There is something about wolves that many people, myself included, find very captivating. Admittedly, my experience with them has been limited to zoo residents, but even in captivity they have a kind of self awareness that you don't find in there domesticated cousins. Wolves will look at you like they are measuring you. My dogs always look at me like they need something from me (and can't understand why I haven't already got it for them). Dogs are dependent, wolves independent. This peice captures the look that wolves always seem to give me. Never a threatening glare. Always a look of mindful respect.
